Signpost Words | ‘THE PURGE’
Some Observations |
It took eighteen years of concerted effort to purge the land of spiritual filth. When they found the revelation of Moses, the book of the law, despite all their efforts an even greater calamity could be seen hurtling toward their now purged land. Hulda the prophetess, the keeper and repairer of the temple wardrobe affirmed this terrible truth. ‘In 609BC Pharaoh Neco II of Egypt marched northward in one last desperate attempt to help the tattered Assyrian armies stop the Neo-Babylonian juggernaut. King Josiah, perhaps preferring the Neo-Babylonian presence in that area to that of Assyria and Egypt, came out to block the advance of Neco. The two armies joined battle in the plain of Megiddo, and God’s arrow slew Josiah.’
A Call To Action |
Josiah’s hope was pierced through by wrong entanglements. Beware!

Highlight Verses | 2 Chronicles 34:18-21
Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a book." And Shaphan read it before the king. Thus it happened, when the king heard the words of the Law, that he tore his clothes. Then the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying, "Go, inquire of the Lord for me, and for those who are left in Israel and Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found; for great is the wrath of the Lord that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord, to do according to all that is written in this book."
