The church has failed abysmally at attracting men to the cause of Christ. There are glaring reasons why this is, but least not is the feminization of Christ and His church. In the present church structures, this cannot be overcome. The rot is too ingrained. Therefore the men that are left need to get the hell out of there! However, we all know that wifey and the kids are not gonna follow you. It's far too comfortable for them at the moment. Nope, even the remaining Men won't come out of the church nor separate themselves from corrupt structures, because there are no more heroes anymore
A far more easier fact to recognize as to why the church has failed abysmally at attracting me to the church has been lack of focus.
Look now, I used to go and speak to men's meetings. I stopped doing that a long time ago however, as it became detrimental to my mental health. A £5 greasy spoon breakfast to old farts and their grand-kids ( I speak as an old fart) on a Saturday morning, or a few days away in what is a 'youth camp for older men,' is not men's ministry, but a pathetic and exceptionally poor representation of manhood.
Look now, the statistics are very clear and have been for years.
"NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Did you know that if a child is the first person in a household to become a Christian, there is a 3.5 percent probability everyone else in the household will follow?
If the mother is the first to become a Christian, there is a 17 percent probability everyone else in the household will follow.
But if the father is first, there is a 93 percent probability everyone else in the household will follow.*"

"In short, if a father does not go to church, no matter how faithful his wife’s devotions, only one child in 50 will become a regular worshipper. If a father does go regularly, regardless of the practice of the mother, between two-thirds and three-quarters of their children will become churchgoers (regular and irregular). If a father goes but irregularly to church, regardless of his wife’s devotion, between a half and two-thirds of their offspring will find themselves coming to church regularly or occasionally.

SO, what have we been doing in answer to these statistics, has our religious machinery the seminaries and Bible colleges focused on recruiting men to teach men to reach men. Have we designed and refined missions courses for men. NO.... And what about our churches who are they recruiting, is it MINISTERS to men, EVANGELISTS to men, is it DIRECTORS of men's ministries. NO..its mostly effeminate pastors, strong women and spotty goateed worship leaders and hipster youth leaders. Check out the church recruitment adds. Ministry to men is nowhere! No focus recruitment in the face of fantastic statistics.
When I ministered to men's groups in the UK, before my depression set in, I was faced with the same question up and down the land. "How do we attract young men to us." Not to the church. Not to Christ. But to us. Now most of these men were older men and financially well established. SO, I came up with an easy plan. It went like this:
- Divide Yourself into groups of six.
- Every year each of you drop £500 into a kitty. That's £3,000
- Find a young man and all 6 invite him out for a curry and tell him there is something in it for him.
- When he's downed his first Cobra tell him " Hey, there are 6 of us here, and that totals (when the average age is 60) around 200-250 years of work and life experience. Listen young man, we want to give you £9,000 over the next three years for you to invest in your education/training. The deal is this
- We want to meet with you four times a year, over a curry which we will but, to give you any advice on life women and the universe you might you might ask us for.
- We covenant to pray for you each day.
We don't want the money back, but once you are established, we want you to find 5 more men and do the same for another young man."
I told them that if they did this, young men would be beating their doors down to get to them!!
Did they do it? No. They went on eating greasy spoon breakfasts and turned into moaning old women. I got out. Why? There are no more heroes anymore.
